Our Campsite is on the border of Bridgend County, in fact our prime location allows you easy access to Bridgend and all the county has to offer. From teh McArthur Glen shopping centre in Sarn, Bryngarw country park, Ogmore by Sea and even as far as Southerdown and it’s Jurassic Coastline, our campsite is situated with all this just a short drive away.
Ogmore and Southerndown Jurassic Coastline
Should you wish to head east from our campsite, you can head down to Ogmore, this place has a lovely beach which is popular for Surfing and fishing, you could even take a walk along Southern Cliffs, or visit Ogmore Castle and Stepping stones. …Ledgend has it that King Arthur was fatally wounded here and transported by boat on Ogmore River toward the sea, where he then died and was secretly buried (so say some!). Here, you can also visit Southerdown Golf Club if golfing is your thing.
Merthyr Mawr Dunes
Across the river from Ogmore Beach is Merthyr Mawr sand dunes. This is a haven for walkers and families looking for a bit of outdoor fun. Merthyr Mawr is a National Nature Reserve and is also home to Europe’s second largest Sand Dune… ‘The Big Dipper’. This dune is the highest in Wales and amazing for both small and big children alike. …just make sure to bring a toboggan as you can slide down the dunes during the dry summer months. You can leave our campsite, have a short 15 minute drive to Candleston Car Park and then spend hours walking along Merthyr Mawr Dunes and even walk toward Porthcawl.
Bryngarw Country Park
Only a 15 minute drive away, passing Craig Yr Aber forestry, you will reach Bryngarw Country Park. It has over 100 acres of meadows, gardens and mature woodlands, Bryngarw Country Park is a magical place to visit. This is quite a different country park to Margam, it features a vast native woodland area to explore and play which make it appealing for younger families and couples which make it a wonderful place to spend a day.
